They're just not. They can't even keep up with the 250+ applications they get for each of their dozen jobs they are trying to fill much less go read about what a "๐ฌ๐ฎ๐œ๐œ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ง ๐ข๐ง๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐๐ฎ๐š๐ฅ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐š๐ซ๐ž"...

And if you send them your resume through a DM... well, ๐Ÿคฃ

What they will do is get your contact info from a "list" from a place I won't share how, and spam you with emails and maybe a "๐’€๐’๐’–'๐’“๐’† ๐’‚ 99% ๐’Ž๐’‚๐’•๐’„๐’‰ ๐’‡๐’๐’“ ๐’•๐’‰๐’† ๐’“๐’๐’๐’† ๐’๐’‡ ๐’‚๐’”๐’•๐’“๐’-๐’‘๐’‰๐’š๐’”๐’Š๐’„๐’Š๐’”๐’•!" in a DM...

Friends, if you want a new job, you're going to have to do it the old-fashioned way... use your network and apply through a job posting. Unfortunately, the Green Banner will only take you so far and most of us don't know how to appropriately use our network, so in the end, it's about ๐’‚๐’‘๐’‘๐’๐’š๐’Š๐’๐’ˆ...

So full disclosure... some recruiters will look at your profile... there are like 20 of them! ๐Ÿ™‚ But then again, there are a bajillionteen-million recruiters roaming around LinkedIn so are the odds really in your favor?

I say all this so you can make the best use of your time when making this career transition... put in the work... fill your pipeline with actual applications and religiously track what you're doing. Then sprinkle in some conversations with previous co-workers, your agreed-upon references and your inner circle here on LinkedIn.

If you are a master communicator and an authentic engager on LinkedIn, ๐‘ณ๐‘ฐ๐‘ฒ๐‘ฌ ๐‘ด๐‘ฌ, take your total number of connections and divide it by 100... for me that is 6,000 divided by 100 so... about 60. If you are NOT a master communicator and/or authentic engager... divide your total connections by 300... Basically, the people whose names you can state... by memory...

PPS. Everything above is based on my one-on-one conversations with HUNDREDS of people on LinkedIn... some were clients, most were not.

๐๐๐๐’. ๐‘๐ž๐œ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ข๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ, feel free to lay into me. I get too much love in my posts, so I'd love some dissenting views on this matter... ๐Ÿ˜‰ I'd also love to hear why job seekers usually just get "crickets" after their engagement with ya all...

Tune in Thursday for some video talk on this matter...
