That darn calendar!

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫... 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤... 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬...

Yeah, those are the "𝒔𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒔" in any career transition.

Many years ago, I KNEW I wanted out... I accomplished all I came to accomplish and frankly they couldn't afford to keep me, and I definitely wanted a new challenge.

So, I set out to get what I was worth and to use the skills I had acquired!

𝐄𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲... 𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓?!?!?

Wrong.

I did what I had always done, and I continued to get what I always got.

The job market had changed since the last time I was "out there" looking.

The means by which to finds new jobs had DRASTICALLY changed!

And let's be honest... I wasn't getting any younger and maybe I got a bit too comfortable in that job I had for 6 years and failed to continually upskill...

I won't bore you with what I did... my story... your story... Joe Schmoe's story won't get YOU where YOU need to be.

Sometimes the first step is answering one or more of these questions:

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 am I willing to play second fiddle?
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 am I willing to NOT have the impact I know I should?
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 am I willing to not USE my degree / certs?
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 am I willing to not have work/live balance?
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 am I willing to put my career on hold?

Oh, and one last multiple-choice question... Am I willing to do EVERYTHING in my power to get what I want? Yes🔲 No🔲

I LOVE self-assessments friends. It gives me clarity... it gives me empowerment... it gives me focus... and it gives me a 𝑯𝑼𝑮𝑬 𝑨𝑫𝑽𝑨𝑵𝑻𝑨𝑮𝑬!

These are questions I ask of myself. Yours might be totally different. But ask yourself some questions and give honest answers...
